Milk and Cookies

“Milk and cookies” by Frank Asch was my favorite book as a child. Maybe because that was also my favorite snack or maybe because the simple plot was so fun to read over and over. My mom told me I chose this book more than the others because it was so much fun to see the main character, baby bear, create this whole idea of a dragon out of his grandpa’s furnace in the cellar. This book is so cute and simple and rereading it now brings back so many memories. I adore reminiscing on my childhood and remembering all the bedtimes that were brightened by this book. The colorful pictures are always vivid in my mind when I hear the title. I can see baby bear and the little pullout bed they sleep on. And I will forever remember the dragon and baby bear’s face when he saw it. This book was a very comfortable book because it took place at baby bear’s grandparents house. For me, I always enjoyed going to my grandparents house and eating milk and cookies. I think that’s part of the reason I enjoyed this book so much. I could easily relate to it and it made me smile every time. Simple pleasures as a kid seem to stay pleasures even as a teenager. I love to look at things I liked when I was little because it never fails to put a smile on my face!
