hi y’all, I’m Janie!
I’m an author, pediatric nurse, Texas native, and friend of Jesus.
I’m so glad you stopped by!!!!!

welcome to my page!
a little about me…
I was born and raised in Texas and attended Texas A&M University following in my parents footsteps. After I graduated from college I moved to Nashville, TN where I currently work as a pediatric oncology nurse. All throughout my life writing was a means to process and heal in different trials I faced. A heart dream of mine was to one day write a book and share stories of the faithfulness of Jesus that I encountered. Fast forward past endless journals, blogs, & notes quickly scribbled in my phone………..
I wrote my first book!
I began writing this book after losing my beloved dad to cancer back in 2022 and it has truly been evidence of the Lord bringing beauty from the most devastating ashes. I am so honored to get to share a portion of my story with you. Being my dad’s daughter is my most favorite gift from God and his absence is the deepest ache in my heart. I wrote this book in the mess of that deep pain and I hope the raw vulnerability of it all brings healing and hope to you wherever you find yourself today.
“i will tell of the kindnesses of the Lord, the deeds for which he is to be praised, according to all the Lord has done for us” isaiah 63:7 NIV

a few reviews…
My Friend Grief is an open invitation to enter into the raw emotion, mental processing, & all of the complexities that accompany the tragedy of losing someone we love. Reading this book is to be held by the Holy Spirit and invited into the depths of sorrow with great consolation, & hope that only the Spirit gives. My Friend Grief is a true companion that provides holy comfort and an equipping in bravery and vulnerability as one sifts through their own experience of suffering & hope in loss. I wish all had the company and support in loss that this book offers. To read it is to better know Jesus, The Man of Sorrows & The King of Light.

Having lost my dad almost a year ago, Janie Beyer’s book My Friend, Grief deeply touched my heart. I found it relevant, encouraging, and hope-filled. Beyer leads us on an honest journey of loss and healing. Her own story is poignant and hope-filled. Even if you have not yet walked through the Valley of Loss yourself yet, this parable will give you a better understanding of what it feels like to experience deep sorrow and to lean into the Holy Spirit’s abiding comfort.

My friend, Grief is a profound and raw narrative inviting us into the trenches of Janie’s journey of death’s siege of her own dad’s life from cancer. It offers a transformative perspective on how to relate to grief, and Jesus, in the darkest and shatteringly hopeless places. Janie’s words draw illuminating pictures to provide a road of understanding to our souls and show us the healing and utter importance of befriending grief alongside communion with Jesus. As someone who had the immense honor to walk next to Janie in each season of this story I can testify to her honesty and humility to know, believe, trust, and lean into the Man of Sorrows. Her unwavering faith to trust him in her deepest place of pain and her resilience to stay with him no matter what, has been a constant echo of his worthiness and is a testimony of his perfect nearness and sufficiency in the deepest unwanted things of our lives.

Reminiscent of Bunyan’s, Pilgrims Progress, Janie Beyer beautifully unfolds her walk with sorrow and grief to an end of hope and healing…not only for her, but us as well. I wish I would have read My Friend, Grief before now-I sure could have used it. Oswald Chambers wrote, “If I have received myself in the fires of sorrow, then I am good stuff for other people in the same condition.” Janie must have done so, for this is “good stuff “.

My Friend Grief is a beautifully crafted portrait in words of the sacred journey…sacred space…of a journey with grief. The words are poignant and so powerful in their ability to lead you in and hold you in the midst of great pain which takes you to a place of purpose. Herein you will find a road none of us desire or are prepared to take until it is thrust upon us. This path leads us to a place of discovery and recaptures the joy of living fully, embracing the raw emotion brought through life. And, the reality of our Lord’s companionship and guidance is, as always, our hope! To fully embrace life, we must fully embrace all of it…and sometimes it hurts!
